'Even if it’s not part of the southern Patagonian ice field, Seno Ballena is part of the southernmost glaciers in America. As these glaciers retreat and the ice melting rate increases year by year, they release way more freshwater. After Greenland, Chile is the second country with the most significant reserves on ice fields. Understanding how this system works shapes a better knowledge of how the pace of the place is actually moving and how that could affect the primary production of water, how that could affect the migration of whales that spend time here. It’s a historical place for them.'
